Steak Rub

Steak Rub

This is the rub I use every time I need something quick, easy and delicious. I usually mix the spices right before I use the rub and the quantity depends on how much meat I’m cooking. The proportions are totally optional. If you prefer to eat saltier – add more salt, if you like more heat – by all means, add more black pepper and some chili flakes. As I said, this is the marinade I use most often, ’cause these are the ingredients I always have on hand.

Ingredients (for 1 kg meat):

1 tsp salt
1 tbsp paprika
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tbsp dried onion flakes
1/2 tsp garlic powder

1. In an airtight container put one stake and drizzle with a little bit of oil (be it sunflower, vegetable or olive, whatever you have on hand), sprinkle generously with the spice mix and rub it in. Do the same to the other side of the stake and continue with the rest.

2. Keep in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (for best results overnight).

3. Bake with a little bit of water and under aluminum foil on 250 C degrees for an hour and uncover for additional 10 minutes(this way the stakes are always tender but you can also bake on the grill or a grill pan).
